International Doctoral Symposium (Hong Kong)

The International Doctoral Symposium is held in different locations each year. Graduate students submit proposals to their university and the students whose proposals are accepted present at the symposium. This year the symposium is being held in Hong Kong. It is an exciting opportunity to make new connections and travel somewhere new.

What am I presenting?

My passions and interests are numerable (education, adult abuse, neglect, and self-neglect, equitable health care, inclusion and diversity, etc.). For this symposium I am concentrating on the complexities around adult self-neglect. First, there is the issue of self-neglect being (inappropriately) lumped in with adult abuse and neglect. Second, there is the issue with how self-neglect is defined. And third is the value Western societies place on self-neglect. See this blog post to learn more.
